                       Greek toy museum

    

            Objectives and activities of the club:

       

        

          1. To gather and exhibit Greek cottage industry and handcrafted toys of the previous century and especially from 1930 to 1990.

              

          These toys will be on permanent display at the society's exhibition area. Also at that space, will be hosted ad hoc thematic presentations

          of collectible toys as well as exhibits of children'sʼ personal collections of stamps, toys, models, coins, etc.  

    

          

         2. To record and preserve children's traditional games (such as hide and seek, leapfrog etc) of Rhodes, the Dodecanese and Greece in general.

         

         To organize events in a specially designed area, suitable in which to play these traditional games and where schools, individuals, clubs, 

         etc can take part in order to maintain    and pass them on to the next generation.

                

     

         3. To raise children's awareness on issues concerning the environment and conservation with relevant activities such as:

       

         Making constructions with toys which operate on solar or Aeolian (wind) energy.

         A variety of interactive games relating to alternative forms of energy.
         Activities relevant to recycling, such as making toys from used packaging, broken toys, etc. and exhibiting them at the cultural center.
 

      

    

        4.  To organize and promote various events for children.

      

        Concerts, plays, puppet shows, Karagiozis (traditional shadow theatre)  art exhibitions and competitions such as painting, photography, 

        ceramics, sculpture, handicrafts etc and their hosting  at the society's cultural centre.
